Audubon Partnership
The Maryland-DC National Audubon Society partners with PPPCS, working with classrooms in Prekindergarten through Third Grade. Classes meet quarterly in the park with Audubon personnel to learn about different aspects of our park. Classes learn about different plants that attract specific species, animals that live in our park, and how to be good park stewards.
Tree Baltimore and FOPP (Friends of Patterson Park)
Second graders at PPPCS worked with Tree Baltimore and FOPP to learn how to care for trees in our park. Students were instructed on how to mulch and water trees and actually were able to do it with new trees in the park. Students are now going to water the trees on a regular basis, using water from our rain barrels.
Parks and People
Parks and People conduct an after school program that meets twice weekly. They work with students in second, third, and fourth grades. Their program revolves around the environment and being stewards. They were responsible for making the rain gardens outside of our courtyard entrance. They then planted them with students and are responsible for watering on a regular basis. They also plan field trips. One on April 8th will include 60 of our PPPCS students.

Baltimore Energy Challenge
After wining a grant in 2011, the BEC became a very valuable partner in our endeavor to raise awareness of energy and it uses. They came and did two professional developments for our staff, they attended community forums to hand our energy kits and sign up community members, and most importantly worked with our Green Team on a weekly basis. During those meetings, the Green Team developed a public service announcement that was broadcast to all members of PPPCS, they also participated in an assembly and contest sponsored by Cool The Earth. In addition to these many things, they aided in developing an energy audit which was conducted by our Green Team. This resulted in our first ever energy contest!
